Start with a benchmark, not a textbook
The most common mistake is opening a textbook on page one. Sit a timed practice paper first. It tells you where you actually stand and stops you spending weeks on topics you already know.
Weight your time the way the exam weights the marks
The DWE is broad. Map your available weeks against the specialties and spend the most time where the marks — and your weaknesses — actually are, not where you feel most comfortable.
Practise under time, early and often
Reading feels productive; timed questions build the skill the exam tests. Do questions in blocks under time pressure, and read every explanation — including the ones you got right.
Review actively
Keep a running list of what you got wrong and revisit it. Spaced repetition beats re-reading.
Simulate the real day
Before the exam, sit at least one full-length mock under real conditions — same duration, no interruptions. It turns exam-day stamina into a known quantity.
